Objective Advice on Personal Finances

Peace About Your Personal Finances

The best way to meet your financial goals is to plan on how you will achieve them early.  You should work with your financial team, including your accountant, to implement a plan in which you will address the issues.  Second, you need to monitor the progress towards achieving your goals.

My clients often ask me to get involved in helping them to plan their personal financial affairs.  The benefits I offer are:

  • I know my clients and probably even their families.  I can provide information to attorneys and investment brokers that the client may not realize is important to bring up.
  • My goal is to eliminate or reduce my client's stress when dealing with personal financial issues.  I strive to help them fully understand and be at peace with plans being introduced to them by attorneys and investment brokers.  I try to avoid subsequent unpleasant surprises.  I often am asked to "unpack" the technical jargon, so my clients understand the choices and the impacts of their decisions.  Many personal financial decisions require trade-offs.  My objective is that the client understands the trade-offs, and be at peace with them.
  • Since my compensation is not dependent on any decisions my client makes, I can offer objective counsel.
